Overcoming Fear as an Artist: Embrace Growth

Fear shows up every time I step into something new. It whispers, “What if you fail? What if they don’t like it? What if you’re not ready?”

But here’s what I’ve learned: the more I face my fear and put myself out there, the more confident I become. Fear doesn’t vanish; it transforms into fuel when I keep moving forward.

Each Opportunity Stretch Me

Lately, I’ve been putting myself in positions that scare me. Opportunities needed to advance my creative ventures, things I’ve never done before. My first instinct is to shrink back, but instead, I am leaning in.

And you know what? I don’t have all the answers, not one clue how I’m going to pull it off. But I trust myself enough to know that I’ll figure it out, some way, somehow.

This is growth. Growth isn’t comfort; it’s stretching beyond the known and embracing the unknown.

The Power of Believing (Even If It Feels Delusional)

The key to success is believing I am already a successful and abundant artist. Even when my reality hasn’t caught up yet, I choose to hold the vision.

Some might call it delusional. I call it faith. Faith in myself. Faith in my art. Faith in the journey. Because every artist who ever achieved greatness had to believe in themselves before the world did.

Tips I used to Face Fear as an Artist

1. Start Small, Build Up

Take small steps into the unknown. Each win, no matter how tiny, builds confidence for the bigger risks.

2. Reframe Fear as Growth

Fear means I’m expanding. Instead of avoiding it, I ask: “What is this fear teaching me?”

3. Visualize Success Daily

I imagine myself thriving and let that vision guide my actions until it becomes real.

4. Adopt the “Figure It Out” Mindset

I don’t need to know everything before I start. I trust my ability to learn along the way.

5. Celebrate Every Step

Each time I face fear, I honor it. Growth deserves acknowledgment, not just results.

Affirmations for Facing Fear
  • I feel fear, and I move forward anyway.
  • Every step into the unknown builds my confidence.
  • I trust myself to figure it out as I go.
  • My art and my vision are worthy of success.
  • I am already the abundant artist I believe myself to be.

Reflection

Day 17 reminds me that fear is not a stop sign; it’s a signal that I’m moving in the right direction. Each time I say yes to what scares me, I grow stronger, bolder, more confident.

Fear may walk beside me, but it will never drive the car. I will always be creating, showing up, and believing in the abundant artist I am becoming.

I’d love to know:

  • What fears have you faced recently in your creative journey?
  • How did you push through them?

I want to hear your story in the comments. Your courage might inspire others and me to leap higher.
