Red heels

Embrace Your Inner Wonder: Step Boldly into the Unknown

Today I got up excited and wide-eyed, ready to head off to Wonderland. Maybe today is the day I meet the wizard. The little girl inside of me dances with delight. She is always happy to go on an adventure. She loves a sense of wonder.

Although we have been doing this for a while, she still gets scared sometimes. She doesn’t want to make a mistake. When doubt and fear kick in and she wants to quit, I comfort her, reminding her that we will figure it out, do our best, and continue to put one foot in front of the other. Hence, the painting.

As if the universe agrees, the quote from my morning teabag says: “The unknown is where all outcomes are possible; enter it with grace.”

And so, I was inspired to paint red heels, a symbol of boldness and mystery, like Alice, I’m stepping into Wonderland.

The Symbolism of the Step

Each step I take into the unknown is an act of courage. The heels exaggerate the step, almost balancing on air, while the lotus is a reminder to stay grounded in grace and purpose. The painting whispers: You may not know where the path leads, but walking is already a victory.

This painting is about stepping into confidence and vulnerability. It’s an inspiration for moving forward. I painted the shoes red, a striking color, demands attention, evoking passion, sensuality, and courage. They are not timid shoes; they are shoes for a woman willing to step boldly into the unknown.

Contrasting the heels is the delicate lotus tattoo on the ankle. The lotus blooms out of the mud, yet its petals remain untouched by the dirt. It’s a reminder that even when you are surrounded by uncertainty or struggle, your spirit has the power to rise, transform, and remain beautiful. Together, the shoes and the lotus create a powerful duality: the outward image of boldness and allure, and the inward truth of spiritual transformation.

The Symbolism of Red Heels in Wonderland

In literature and art, shoes often represent the journey. Red shoes symbolize power, desire, and the magic of transformation, from Dorothy’s ruby slippers in The Wizard of Oz to this Wonderland-inspired stride. They suggest that every step is more than just movement; it’s an act of claiming space, of daring to be seen, of trusting the path even when it winds into mystery.

Closing Reflection

Day 2 reminds me that embracing wonder doesn’t mean living without fear. It means moving forward anyway, not freezing when fear arrives, but instead continuing forward with grace, even when the ground feels uncertain. The adventure continues, one step at a time. The little girl within me may hesitate, but she also delights in the wonder of what’s ahead. The woman I am today wears the red heels, balancing on strength and beauty, with a lotus blooming quietly as a reminder of growth.

Together, they tell me: Step boldly, the path unfolds as you walk it.

Every step into the unknown is an act of courage — just like slipping into a pair of bold red heels and walking toward your dreams.
